Critics Consensus

A spinoff with its own gravity — Star City trades For All Mankind's NASA optimism for hushed corridors and creeping dread, and the result is arguably the franchise's most gripping stretch yet, led by a tremendous Rhys Ifans.

What is Star City about?

The mirror side of For All Mankind's alternate space race: in a history where cosmonaut Alexei Leonov beat Apollo to the lunar surface in 1969, the victorious Soviet program must keep winning at any cost. Inside the closed military city that forges its heroes, the legendary Chief Designer, his rising cosmonauts and their families navigate triumph, propaganda and the KGB's constant gaze — where a defective valve or a careless word can end a career, or a life.
