Celluloid Verdict

A rom-com that actually likes fandom instead of mocking it — Park Min-young and Kim Jae-wook are warm, adult and genuinely funny together, even when the late-run backstory reaches too far.

What is Her Private Life about?

By day Sung Deok-mi is a composed, immaculately dressed curator at a Seoul art museum. By night she runs one of the country's biggest idol fansites, editing photos until dawn and keeping the whole operation hidden from everyone she works with. Then Ryan Gold arrives as the museum's new director, catches her mid-fangirl, and — for reasons of his own — offers to pose as her boyfriend. The cover story holds up beautifully. The feelings underneath it do not.

Her Private Life (2019) Review: Fangirling Without Shame

Her Private Life is a 16-episode Korean rom-com about a museum curator secretly running an idol fansite, and it is warmer and wiser about fandom than most.

Yes. It is a charming, adult romantic comedy for K-drama fans and anyone who has loved a pop idol, even if the backstory in later episodes overreaches.
