Celluloid Verdict

A tense, unusually class-conscious outbreak thriller that locates its horror in tower-block politics rather than in the infected. Han Hyo-joo and Park Hyung-sik make a formidable pair.

What is Happiness about?

In a near-future Seoul where masks and outbreak drills have become routine, two childhood friends fake a marriage to qualify for a flat in a brand-new tower reserved for police and civil servants. Days after they move in, a resident on an upper floor turns violent and the building is sealed from the outside. What spreads through the corridors proves less frightening than what the neighbours do to one another once the lifts stop.

Happiness (2021) Review: Class War in a Sealed Tower

Happiness is a 12-episode Korean outbreak thriller set in a locked-down apartment tower, where the neighbours prove more dangerous than the infected.

Yes. It is a gripping, socially sharp lockdown thriller for fans of Korean genre TV, though the conspiracy plot in later episodes is weaker than the tower-block tension.
