Tilda spends her days finishing a math thesis, working a supermarket checkout, and raising her ten-year-old sister Ida while shielding her from their alcoholic mother. When a professor offers Tilda a promising doctoral position in Berlin, she has to decide whether pursuing her own future means leaving her sister behind. Long laps in the local pool become the one place she can think clearly.
